Travel Tools

We have become travel tool dependent.

Here are my favorites:

Tripadvisor:  I love this site!  It gives you a list of hotels and vacation homes in whatever location you choose.  You can also search by “pet friendly” which is really important to us with two little doxies. I especially love the candid and thorough customer reviews and photos of each hotel.  It also has an app for my iphone.

Yelp:  We use yelp when we are looking for places to eat.  Again, the customer reviews are key in sending us to places we have loved eating, and saved us from “new ownership gone bad”

VRBO:  This is where I go to find houses for rent.  It has great pictures and customer reviews.  We have had good luck in finding places to stay using VRBO.  There is also Flipkey, Vacation Home Rentals, Homeaway, Vacation Rentals, Dwellable.

Googlemaps:  Seriously, how did we survive without googlemaps?  We use it on the computers and the iphones constantly.

Marriott.com:  We have already accumulated quite a few points through Marriott.  Their hotels are reasonably priced, most take dogs, their site is easy to use and they let you cancel 24 hours before expected arrival.

Starbucks:  Yes. Starbucks is a tool.  Awesome for caffeine, a healthy snack and wifi.

Iphone with hotspot: I love being able to access the internet always. And a camera always with us.

Pinterest:  I have found some amazing ideas on travel and locals that I wouldn’t have known otherwise.

 

We are only a few weeks into our trip, so my guess is that we will discover additional tools as we go.  I will keep this page updated.
